Description This medium-roast Qi Lan Yancha—also known as “King of Qi Lan” or Qi Lan Wang—offers a rare combination of expressive sweetness and minerality at an approachable price point. Sourced during our autumn 2023 exploration of top-tier Yancha, this tea showcases the region’s classic style while standing out for its unique floral character. The dry leaves are dark brown with olive highlights, reflecting a lighter roast that preserves the inherent complexity. The brewed liquor pours a rich golden colour, inviting the senses before the first sip. On the rinse, the tea releases a pleasant, sweet roasted aroma, setting the stage for a rewarding session. The flavour is forwardly sweet from the first infusion, the sweetest Rock oolong we’ve encountered, with the sweetness returning elegantly on the palate. From the second infusion onward, a subtle mineral note emerges, adding depth and balance. As the session continues, the tea develops its signature orchid fragrance, creating a layered and complex tasting experience that is both expressive and refined.
